About Us

Montana Advocates for Children (MAC) is a group of early childhood stakeholders committed to ensuring all Montana families and children have access to a robust and coordinated early care and education system.

MAC members and partners include Montana Child Care Resource and Referral Network (Raise MT), Montana Head Start Association, Montana Budget & Policy Center, Zero to Five Montana, Montana Women Vote, Montana Association for the Education of Young Children, Montana Family Childcare Network, Montana Afterschool Alliance, the Montana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the University of Montana Center for Children, Families and Workforce Development.

Our mission: Through informed advocacy and best practice, we support all avenues of Early Childhood to ensure a thriving society for Montana’s generations to come.

  • The Montana Budget & Policy Center (MBPC) provides in-depth research and analysis on budget, tax, and economic issues. Their mission is to advance responsible tax, budget, and economic policies through credible research and analysis in order to promote opportunity and fairness for all Montanans.

  • Zero to Five Montana is a statewide early childhood organization focused on increasing access to early care and education, supporting and strengthening families, uplifting voices, and empowering small businesses and communities.

  • Montana Women Vote (MWV) works statewide to engage low-income women in the democratic process as informed voters, policy advocates, and community leaders. MWV works with low-income women and families, folks in the LGBTQ community, Native women, and their allies, to fight for health care access, reproductive rights, economic justice, and violence prevention.

  • The Montana Coalition of Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (HMHB) is a statewide organization that works to improve the health, safety, and well-being of Montana families by supporting mothers and babies, age zero to three by advocating for public policies to achieve our mission, ensuring Montana families have the support and information they need to raise healthy children, and by building partnerships to create a network of maternal and child health services.

  • The Montana Head Start Association brings together families, staff, directors, and friends of all Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Montana, to provide leadership, education, information, and advocacy on behalf of young children, pregnant women, and families throughout Montana.

  • The Montana Association for the Education of Young Children (MTAEYC) is an organization of early childhood professionals working to solve local, state, and national issues that affect children and families.

  • The Montana Family Childcare Network (MFCN) is a collaboration of early childhood interests, who represent Montana’s Family Childcare Educators and advocates with united voices on behalf of all children, families, and family childcare educators, to promote and encourage quality professional family childcare and early education through professional education, mentoring, and advocacy.

  • The Montana Afterschool Alliance (MTAA) supports and advocates for sustainable, high-quality afterschool programs by drawing together key decision-makers committed to improving outcomes for youth, their families, and communities.

  • The Montana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (MTAAP) believes in the inherent worth of all of Montana's children and advocates for activities, programs, and policies that will promote their optimal health and well-being and aligns projects to enhance the professional and personal growth of our members.
